When a vehicle has been returned late, the system will automatically charge penalty rates for the late return. Penalty rates are the hourly rate for every hour the hirer is late returning the vehicle. Late charges start being incurred after the grace period our system offers team members to process the return of the hire, including time to check the vehicle. The grace period is 20 minutes from the time the hire is due to be returned. Penalty rates must be charged if the customer was late returning to the store and they did not call and request an extension of their hire.
[00:22:05] If the hire was extended, this extension must be processed before the return is processed, which will recalculate the hire charges to work out the cheapest for the hirer.
[00:22:17] The checklist for returns. The checklist is to be used to process the return of the hire. It is the checklist on the vehicle condition report form on the signed hire out documents.
[00:22:29] When the hirer returns the ute, the team member needs to take the checklist out to the ute and check each item on the checklist as well as check for any new damage to the vehicle. Once the checklist has been completed at the vehicle, the team member will need to update the system on return to ensure the vehicle in the system matches the current condition of the vehicle.
[00:22:51] Any additional damage or missing items need to be reported to Handy Rentals and the deposit will need to be withheld with additional charges charged to the hirer.
